What We Aimed to Solve

We aimed to address the lack of comprehensive and integrated home safety and environmental wellness solutions in India, focusing on enhancing security, emergency responsiveness and indoor air and water quality for safety and health-conscious families.

My Role

I led the market entry strategy and development of Smart Home Solutions in India. My role involved identifying key user personas, guiding product development and implementing a strategic pricing and go-to-market strategy. I focused on innovative features like AI-driven security and health-centric monitoring. My efforts played a key role in meeting the safety, security and environmental health requirements of Indian families with the customized solutions.

How We Approached the Problem
  1. Identifying User Needs: We focused on families most concerned with safety and a healthy environment, understanding their daily challenges and needs.

  2. Designing Relevant Solutions: Based on these needs, we developed three main solutions: an AI-driven emergency response system, a smart lock for emergencies and a system to monitor air and water quality.

  3. Ensuring Affordability and Ease of Use: We created different packages to suit various budgets, ensuring our solutions were affordable and user-friendly.

The Solution We Created

1. AI Smart Emergency Response System

This is a smart security system that uses AI to tell the difference between regular activities and emergencies like break-ins, fires or health emergencies. If it detects something wrong, it quickly sends alerts to local emergency services and gives them important information like live video and where the problem is happening in the house. This helps get help faster when every second counts.

2. Smart Lock and Emergency Alerts

This feature is about making sure that during an emergency, the doors can open quickly for emergency teams to get in. The system can unlock doors automatically or let homeowners do it remotely if there’s an emergency, making it easier for help to arrive and start helping right away.

3. Smart Environmental Quality Hub

This part of our solution checks the air and water quality in the home to keep families healthy. It can spot pollution or anything harmful in the air and water and automatically turn on air purifiers or water filters if needed. Homeowners get updates and tips through a simple app on how to keep their home environment clean and safe.

Pricing Strategy

Our pricing was structured in tiers to accommodate various customer preferences based on their chosen level of integration, ensuring that our prices remained competitive while reflecting our solutions' advanced technology and significant value. We emphasized the distinctive benefits of our products, including cutting-edge AI, live monitoring, and features focused on health, to rationalize the different pricing levels. For services that required regular updates and monitoring, such as the Smart Environmental Quality Hub, we introduced a subscription option (INR 300 - 800 per month). This approach offered ongoing value and flexibility, guaranteeing customers had access to the latest functionalities and continuous support.

Result

In the A-B testing for smart home solutions, biometric lock access achieved a 75% satisfaction rate, favored by younger, tech-savvy users, while customizable emergency alerts reached an 82% satisfaction, appealing to users seeking control. The subscription model for the Smart Emergency Response System saw a 55% preference among younger, urban users, indicating a trend towards subscription-based services.
